Oak Island, NC

Located at SE 49th St/Dolphin, Oak Island Water Rescue provides a water rescue service to the citizens and guests of Oak Island, NC.  OIWR responds to all 911 calls as paged out by Brunswick County 911 Center.  We are proud of our 100% response rate as an Volunteer Emergency Response Station.  The station is made up of all volunteer members who respond and train on their own time.

The station, built in 2005, was built with membership cooperation and donations along with Town of Oak Island funding.  The station is a 3-bay station which will house 3 emergency response vehicles.  Purchased in 2005 are 2 new vehicles:  2005 Ford Explorer Command Module and a 2005 Ford F150 Tow Vehicle.

The Ford Explorer is a Quick Response Vehicle set up as a Command Module.  Upon opening the rear hatch, you will find an Accountability System, including a Whiteboard hung from the interior, and complete radio systems.  This includes the County VHF/UHF and a VHF system for communication with our units.

The Ford F150 is set up as a Tow Vehicle.  Behind this vehicle, attached at all times, is a 12.5 ft. Zodiac Hurricane Rigid Hull with a 25hp Yamaha 4-stroke engine (donated by Blackbarry Marine) powering it.  This unit is used for launching into the surf from the beach.

The Jeep Cherokee is set up as a Tow Vehicle.  Behind this vehicle, attached at all times, is a 15.5 ft. Zodiac Hurricane Rigid Hull Center Console with a 60 hp Mercury Mariner 2-stroke engine.  This unit is Ramp Launched at any of our many Marina's.
